ALLERGIC TO HORSES, BUT STILL WANT ONE?

In case you don't know about Curly Horses (and most people do not), they are very special and quite rare! As the name implies, they typically have curly coats, curly manes and sometimes even curly tails. Just as in humans, the amount and type of curl is individual. Many of ours have very tight, soft, poodle-like curls in their manes and looser body curl, which sheds out to a smooth, typical horse appearance in summer.
Known for their calm, sensible dispositions and strong hooves, Curly Horses are also hypoallergenic. Horse-loving allergy sufferers are often overjoyed to find that they have little to no allergic reaction when interacting closely with a Curly Horse.
Though there are currently fewer than 5000 Curly Horses in the world, the versatile "Curlies" are starting to attract notice in a variety of equine sports and performance events. In addition to trail riding, for which their unflappable temperaments make them extremely well-suited, Curly Horses are competing at the national level in dressage and endurance riding. They have also appeared in the annual Rose Bowl parade.
There is quite a bit of speculation about the origins of the Curly Horse. Over the years, they have been crossed with many different breeds, including Morgans, Appaloosas, Arabians, Quarter Horses, and the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse. At Renegait Ranch, we specialize in easy-gaited curlies. Many of our horses will provide a Cadillac ride.
